Action 1: Prevent propagation of incorrect routing information
KINBER asks its customers to share their IP addresses and uses ARIN to verify that the customer is the owner of the address. KINBER requests an LOA with the list of the customer's IP addresses. Once the customer IP addresses are verified KINBER applies a manual filter on its equipment that restricts IP address or BGP advertisements so that only verified addresses as belonging to that customer can be advertised to the PennREN Network. KINBER has an IRR (Internet Routing Registry) that communicates to several upstream providers the addresses that they should expect KINBER to advertise to them.
Action 3: Facilitate global operational communication and coordination
KINBER and the PennREN NOC maintain up to date records through ARIN and through Peering DB.com regarding contact information for our 24/7 Network Operations Center as well as abuse and IP administration contact information.
